Mirc is an easy to use chat programme, a free download is available from www.mirc.com While this is a New Zealand chat room, we welcome people from all over the world, and have a lot of overseas people as regulars. RACE, RELIGION, POLITICS, ETC
We don't get into discussions regarding Race, Sexual Orientation, Gender, Age, Politics, Drugs, Country, or Religious Beliefs, or use foul language.
IDLING
Kiwichat has an "anti-idling" policy, and our visitors must participate in chat.
Idling is sitting in the room without chatting. 15 mins is maximum, after which
you will be removed from kiwichat.
Please come back and visit us when you are able to chat.
If you are in a private conversation, or away for up to 15 minutes, please use a brb by your nick. ie: moonbeam_brb or moonbeam_pm and are not actually idling. You also need to chat in main room from time to time.
One or two syllables or a couple of letters is not classed as chat.

PIXEL
Pixel is our resident bot. She presides over the room making sure chat doesnt get out of hand. If you play up or break the rules etc, you are sure to get a message from her. Persistant misbehaviour or disreguarding her requests, will result in Pixel removing you from the room. Pixel also responds to a lot of commands, some of which are listed below. You will soon learn what she can do.
If you say Hello or Hi Pixel she will respond back.The same applies with goodbye Pixel, how are you Pixel.
Other commands are triggered by an exclamation mark before a word. Some words are: !menu !drinks !hug !mood !time !joke !blonde !men
Another good one is !thwop or !slap followed by a nick.
If you type !q then a question she will answer it ie: !q is it a nice day Pixel. The best way to find out all she can do is join the room and test her out :-)

While the room is open 24/7, most New Zealanders chat between 7pm-11pm (19:00-23:00) NZT. If you drop in at other times there may be someone here, or just wait a while and others may join. CHATIQUETTE
What makes for good manners when chatting online? Consider the following when chatting:
Leave your worries at the door. Come in and relax awhile
Keep your chat brief - Sticking to two sentences or less makes conversation flow quickly. Rambling discourses will see you quickly alienated, or even kicked out of some chat-rooms.
Don't be too brief either - Always replying with one or two words can make you appear aloof and disinterested. Try to vary your replies, it'll keep things more interesting.
Avoid arguments - While healthy debate is part of chat-room life, chat-room arguments quickly kill the atmosphere in a chat room and should be avoided.
If someone is rude or unnecessarily aggressive to you, check for an ignore function to block them.
Use capital letters for emphasis only - TYPING IN CAPS equals shouting and is very annoying.
Don't worry too much about spelling - it's better to respond quickly than to spend copious amounts of time editing typos.
Chat-rooms are never private. Conversations can be and often ARE recorded, by other chat room members. Remember, chat rooms are public places - keep this in mind when chatting.
To avoid spam, think twice about giving out your Email address.
